Camp information and Directions Clearwater Crossing Registration form 2026 Clearwater Crossing Vicinity maps Clearwater Crossing (4)
FROM THE DESK OF JOHN AILPORT, GOH TRAIL BOSS: May 2026
Gentlemen,
After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone our 2026 Clearwater Crossing Ride. Up until this point, things have been shaping up well, and the Forest Service has been out clearing trails, but last winter’s windstorms were a little more devastating to the area than usual. The camp alone had several trees down, some landing on their corrals, causing damage. I had been waiting for a trail report and have been trying to get ahold of the Forest Service for the past few weeks, but they were out of the office and out clearing trails (which is a good thing). Beginning of this week I got a report that their crew only made it 4 miles up the main trail and had 6 days into it with their crew. They were finding excessive blow down with piles of trees and in some cases having to rebuild the trail. The word catastrophic came up during the conversation. Their plan is to continue with the trail clearing, but with the complexity of the trail cleaning things won’t be opened up by our June ride to allow us to have enough areas to ride for the week.
After numerous discussions with folks, we have decided to postpone our ride to (NEW DATES): Sunday, September 13th -Friday September 18th, 2026. Our cook can make it work and should give more time for the trails to be opened up. Since we will be moving the dates, this will take place our Fall ride and we will open it up to a Men’s and Ladies ride.
I have received many registrations, and if you sent me a check or given me your money, I haven’t deposited it yet. I would like to hear from everyone who has sent in their registration to let me know if you can attend the ride with the new dates, I can apply the registration to the fall, or if not, I can destroy the check. If you are one of these folks, please let me know how you would like to proceed.
Sorry for the last-minute change of plans, since I know that there is a lot of preparation that many of you have already done, but mother nature delt us the cards she has and I think this is the best course of action given the circumstances. We looked at several other options to move the ride, but anyone who has been in the woods this spring has probably seen that anywhere with trees probably has a fair amount if blowdown so postponing to allow more time for trail clearing is good decision all around.
As we get a little closer, I will confirm all the details and adjust the registration forms but wanted to get this out to everyone right away so we can start looking forward and making new plans.
Let me know if you have any questions.
